Ali Hazelwood said Tuesday, September 29, 2026, that she has written a direct sequel to her 2021 romance The Love Hypothesis. The new novel, The Two-Body Problem, is scheduled for February 2, 2027, from Berkley in the U.S. and from Sphere (Hachette UK) in the U.K.

Hazelwood posted the news on Instagram the same morning, saying work on the recent Prime Video film of The Love Hypothesis (released September 23, 2026, with Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman) drew her back to Olive Smith and Adam Carlsen. She also said MRC is developing a Two-Body Problem movie for Amazon MGM Studios, while noting that nothing is guaranteed at this stage.

Publisher copy positions the book several years on: Olive has her PhD and a postdoc; she and Adam share a home and a research life, then face the two-body problem of pairing career moves in a tight academic market.
