Netflix has cast Daisy Jelley and Connor Simos as Anastasia “Stassie” Allen and Nate Hawkins in its series adaptation of Hannah Grace’s bestselling college hockey romance Icebreaker, the streamer said Monday, September 28, 2026, on Tudum.
Jelley (Poser, How to Have Sex, Geek Girl) plays Stassie; Simos (Subversion) plays Nate. Netflix’s synopsis frames Stassie as a figure-skating transfer aiming for the Olympics and Nate as a university hockey standout with NHL ambitions; after an accident, the skaters and the hockey program must train on the same ice.
Showrunning and writing duties fall to Amanda Lasher (Gossip Girl, Togetherness), who also executive produces. Jade Bartlett (Road House, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) created the series and executive produces. Unwell Productions is aboard as an EP banner, with Alex Cooper, Matt Kaplan, and Mina Lefevre among the producers; Grace also executive produces, according to trade reports citing the same cast announcement (Deadline, Variety).
Icebreaker opens Grace’s Maple Hills series from Atria Books. Per Netflix Tudum, it logged 70 straight weeks on the New York Times bestseller list and has sold close to 5 million copies worldwide. The casting announcement did not include a premiere date.
